Glory versus adversity

Yes you’ve reached your goal,

And more,

What do you do?

Revel in it? Reap the glory?

Then it all comes crashing down,

Do you cry? Do you wallow?

You touch the seabed with your palm,

Pick yourself up,

Now reach for the sky,

Now be wary of your new found glory,

Don’t repeat the same old story,

Be the best you can be.

Book Fair Bliss (via WordShelf)

I don’t reblog but this deserves a special mention. This shows how much books mean to a person and a shared view of how they make you feel.

There’s nothing more intoxicating than the smell of an old book, it’s like smelling generations of people’s thoughts; with each reader the aroma gets more distinct. The smell is the first thing I notice when I enter a book fair; aged and well read. If all the books were left opened I’d be quite content to fall asleep, as if in a poppy field. Once I’ve paid my entry fee with a smile, I enter the field. Left, right and straight ahead thousands of b … Read More

That Hold

You make my blood boil,

Yet I can’t turn away,

I want to leave,

But feel I must say,

You have a hold,

I cannot break,

I’m warning you now,

I make my own fate.

Response to Causley

Had a long day today applying for jobs, so I decide to share my favourite poem with you I saw a jolly hunter by Charles Causley. This poem is so powerful its says a lot about humans and the way they treat each other. I have then written a poem in response to the one written by Causley, my meaning of the poem.

I saw a jolly hunter

By Charles Causley
I saw a jolly hunter
with a jolly gun
Walking in the country
In the jolly sun

In the jolly meadow
sat a jolly hare
saw the jolly hunter
took jolly care

Hunter jolly eager
sight of jolly prey
forgot gun pointing
wrong jolly way(!)

Jolly hunter jolly head
over heels gone
jolly old safety catch
not jolly on!

Bang! went the jolly gun
Hunter jolly dead
Jolly prey* got clean away
Jolly good I said

Response to Causley’s I saw a Jolly Hunter

Jolly hunters be wise,

Jolly hunters be aware,

Shooting that animal is it really fair?

Lord was on its side today,

You’re not so jolly now,

Hunting maybe not so fun,

Hunters you have a choice now.

Call yourself a friend

Why don’t you ask what I’m feeling?

Why I’m so glum,

Maybe I need help,

Maybe some fun,

Why don’t you ask what I’m feeling?

Maybe you could help,

Maybe you need some fun,

Why don’t you ask what I’m feeling?

What’s eating me,

What’s scaring you?

Why don’t you ask what I’m feeling?

Speak up

Get over here you selfish bitch,

If you had one wish,

What would it be?

To still make my life a misery?

Spill, I want to hear it,

What is your wish?

Say it loud and clear we all want to hear.

On the advice of a reader I have decided to make a few edits to this entry as it it allows a more collective opinion. (30/9/2011)

Get over here you selfish bitch,

If you had one wish,

What would it be?

To still make our life a misery?

Spill, I want to hear it,

What is your wish?

Say it loud and clear we all need to hear.

True

Torn between pleasing others,

Pleasing yourself,

Oh how can you be yourself?

With others to please,

Flowers blooming,

Birds tweeting,

They are free.
